We do not recommend looking the Wampus Cat directly in its burning eyes for more than a few seconds. It won’t turn you to stone like some other creatures you may be familiar with but it may drive you to madness. This creature, found across America (but predominantly in the Appalachian mountains) is a large, monstrous cat with supernatural powers.
It has been known to destroy livestock, hoard dog bones, snack on a child or two and we’ve even heard reports that it is prone to eating eagles. This ravenous beast is able to show some restraint though and will avoid tormenting Native American communities, leaving the indigenous people of the land alone. As a sign of respect, these communities refrain from attacking it and certainly do not trade Wampus Cat pelts.
Some stories have described the Wampus Cat as being a giant cat while some say it is more dog than cat. We’ve also heard that it sheds its whiskers twice a day - bearing white whiskers in the daytime and black ones at night. It has been reported that it is an excellent swimmer so escaping from it via land or water is going to be a struggle.
