Coming from the folklore of Algonquian-speaking tribes in North America (specifically along the Atlantic coast), the Wendigo is a creature of severe hunger whose insatiable appetite has driven it to cannibalism. Closely associated with winter, its approach is often heralded by an intense cold, radiating from its frosty heart.
Sometimes described as a tall, emaciated humanoid with gray flesh, it is also said to have antlers and to have chewed off its own lips. This terrifying creature is not to be trifled with and has even been known to possess others and drive them to cannibalism themselves.
One of the creature’s lesser-known traits is its ability to mimic human voices in order to attract its next meal. With this piece of information in mind, we highly recommend ignoring all calls of your name, particularly when you find yourself alone in wooded areas on a cold winter night.
