The Keres are death goddesses who harvest and feast on the flesh of fallen warriors. Daughters of the night goddess Nyx, they are the personification of violent death. With dark wings, they hover over battlefields, waiting to swoop down and claim the souls of those who have perished.

While the Keres do not kill directly, they serve as agents of death, sent by the Moirai (the Greek Fates) to collect souls and deliver them to the Underworld, not unlike Valkyries. The Keres are loveless, devoid of ties to others, and have no offspring, they are driven solely by their hunger for flesh and their relentless mission.

Reasoning with the Keres is nearly impossible, but as long as you are alive and not close to death, they should leave you alone. Unless, of course, they’re exceptionally hungry.
