The quiet village of Sleepy Hollow shot to fame thanks to Washington Irving’s historical document “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” but the Headless Horseman is not its only undead inhabitant. Others include a wailing woman, a floral-loving spirit in the Octagon House, famed privateer Captain Kidd and many more in haunted taverns.

However, we all know you’re here for the Headless Horseman and that’s certainly a reason to visit in itself. The Hessian soldier, who lost his head to cannon fire, reportedly still roams the village in search of his head and many flock here to try to glimpse him. The most notable location includes the bridge from Irving’s account, which the Horseman cannot cross. Unfortunately, the original version has rotted away but after the Rift opened, don’t be surprised if you spot an 18th Century wooden bridge which looks entirely out of time and place now.
