Roaming the highways of Cannon Beach, Oregon, is the ominous Bandage Man. Easily mistaken for a B-movie mummy, he is - as his name suggests - wrapped entirely in filthy bandages and reeking of rotten flesh.
First appearing in the 1950s, the Bandage Man was originally a worker in a local sawmill who had a horrifying accident with some machinery. We won’t go into graphic detail but needless to say, it left him a shambling ghoul and resulted in his need for more bandages than Tutankhamun.
This zombie-like figure now roams the highways around the seaside town of Cannon Beach, eating roadkill and small animals. However, if he gets really ravenous, he attacks drivers and feasts on the flesh of humans, too. Several eyewitnesses have claimed too that they’ve heard something climb into their car, via the trunk, an open window or if the top is down on their convertible. They are alerted to a strange presence not only by the noise, but by the horrendous smell. However, by the time they turn around to greet their unpleasant passenger, he’s vanished, leaving only the stench behind. We are yet to hear of the Bandage Man paying to get any of his victim’s cars cleaned but maybe that isn’t all too surprising.
