If you ever receive an invitation from a Shinigami, do not accept it. These demons are known to lure humans towards death. As a death god, the Shinigami is a complex figure, not always hostile but often portrayed as such in classic literature. In mythology, Shinigami might resemble a Grim Reaper, a guide for the dead, leading them to the afterlife, embodying the acceptance that death is a part of life.

However, the Shinigami of stories are far more sinister. They are known to trick and manipulate mortals, often driving them towards suicide. Some tales describe these death gods as possessing mortals and making them wish for death. Even without full possession, they can enter a person's mind and steer their thoughts towards despair.

In any encounter, a brush with a Shinigami means a brush with death, whether as a guide to the afterlife or a force dragging you there unwillingly.
