As the spirit of a dead child, the Myling is on the search for its mother. While some reports claim that the Myling is the spirit of any child who is unbaptised, others claim it is one who has been killed by mother. Either way, it is a child who has been improperly buried and just wants someone to help it.
The Myling often sings to attract the attention of others, whether that is crying out for its absent mother or calling over some passing good samaritan. If a Myling approaches you, it will launch itself at your back, where it will latch on and refuse to let go until you help it. There are two ways to put a Myling to rest. The first is to give it a name and the second is to give it a proper burial.
There are grim reports of a Myling finally finding its mother and drinking her dry of all her blood. While these spirits may appear like lost, innocent children, they are filled with rage and a lust for revenge. So be prepared to commit to helping them if one latches on and hope it doesn’t mistake you for its mother.
