First reported in 1966 in Point Pleasant, the Mothman is a cryptid which has grown in notoriety in recent years. Eye witnesses compared the creature to a slim but well-muscled man at around 7 feet tall and huge feathered wings. Screeching sounds have been attributed to the creature but its most prominent features are its glowing red eyes.
Online interest in the creature due to a variety of films, television shows and podcasts has resulted in an increase in tourism for the local area and there is even a Mothman museum in Point Pleasant. Sceptics could argue that this booming tourism industry would be a good reason to fuel Mothman rumors. But we know better.
Cryptid hunters take note, the glowing red eyes is your first warning that the beast is near as screeches cannot be relied on. These could be simply common owls. And when in doubt, a bright light is a good tool to have at hand - he is a moth after all and cannot resist the light’s siren call.
