While many have described the Draugr as something akin to a ghost, it is much closer in nature to a revenant, being a reanimated body rather than an ethereal spirit. Draugr have physical bodies and look exactly as you might expect something that’s recently woken up in a grave, like a shambling corpse.
Accounts of Draugr note that, while they can wander off to torment the living, they are likely to stay near their burial mound in order to protect the treasure they were buried with. This insatiable greed spells bad news for any would-be gravediggers, and they are known to be exceptionally aggressive. They are even known to chase down and kill (and eat) any animals that come near their mounds.
You can tell from which burial mound a Draugr has risen, as they tend to glow once the creature has escaped. Draugr are also said to curse humans and can even use bad luck to kill. If you should decide to attempt to recruit a Draugr to your cause, remember above all else to never touch their things, especially if you value your life.
