The Chimera (ky-meer-ah) is truly a monstrous sight to behold. With the head of a lion, a fire-breathing goat’s head protruding from its back, a serpentine tail and goat’s udders, it sounds like the gods may have been drunk when they created this beast.
Known for tormenting the city of Lycia, it was another child of Typhon and Echidna, making it the sister of Cerberus and the Hydra. Chimera is always referred to with she/her pronouns and was described as “a bane to many men” due to the chaos she caused.
One report claims that she was killed by the hero Bellerophon, who rode the winged horse Pegasus and drove a lead-tipped spear into the Chimera’s throat.
