Flying over battlefields, the Valkyries are a group of warrior women sent by Odin to collect the finest souls and take them to Valhalla. They seek out the bravest warriors and leaders who have been slain in battle and bring them to Odin’s mead hall, where they will spend eternity feasting and celebrating.

Powerful warriors in their own right, the Valkyries have supernatural powers (which vary from one to another) and also have the ability to kill men, making them far more than Odin’s soul collectors. They mostly ride through the skies on horseback, though some Valkyries have been known to ride slightly less imposing boars, and one is even noted to have ridden a large wolf.

Wearing full armor, helmets, and brandishing spears and shields, they are not a group to be trifled with. However, there are stories of some Valkyries taking on human companions and lovers, though this may be the wishful thinking or overactive imagination of the chronicler. Theoretically, they are not entirely unapproachable. Just be sure you have brave tales of hard-won battles ready, as that seems to be the type of person they admire.
