You may have seen stone copies of the monstrous gargoyle adorning churches and cathedrals all over the world. With some of the most iconic and well-known examples found on Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, it is no surprise to learn that the real creature also comes from France. Originally named La Gargouille, its name has changed over time to the one we recognize today, the gargoyle.
