New Upgrade Paths!

Greetings Champions,

After successfully squishing our most recent upgrade bug, we’ve decided to put our entire Upgrade Path through a bit of a transformation.

Ultimately, instead of upgrading a card simply leading to a higher Attack stat and higher Mana cost, we’ve weaved some magic and changed some of these values so that different Ranks result in different stats altogether.

For example, you might notice that Kelpie at Rank 1 costs 1 less Mana to play but at Rank 2 it’ll cost more but hit harder. Meanwhile, Rank 3 will cost dramatically less but have a lot less Attack too, meaning you can play its ability without fear of the cost BUT at the risk of a lower Attack score. Expect cunning plays and strategic synergising ahead!

Our reasoning behind this was to create more variety in your deck building options and provide you with exciting reasons to enjoy cards at all their different Ranks. After our previous change, you’ll now retain the previous version of a card when you upgrade. If you decide a particular Rank doesn’t work in your favourite deck, fear not - you’ve still got your old copy. This should also make some higher Rank cards more useful during Leagues with more restrictive Mana rules while also giving you freedom to build more creative decks.

The biggest change comes with the Rank 5 Fabled cards (still featuring the previously included delicious art upgrade) and we hope you’ll have as much fun playing with those as the Eerie goblins did when we were experimenting behind the scenes. But we don’t want to spoil the surprise so we’ll leave that for you to find out!

We look forward to seeing you put these to the changes to the test.

Happy upgrading and good luck out there!
