Alliances:
Grimbald took a break last week but they’re back with some bite. Cryptozoology is a wonderful deck for new players, while Greek is likely to still hold strong. With the Cryptids getting an overhaul a few weeks ago, they can now hold their own against many other decks, granted you may want to pop in some support from other Hordes (oh hello, North American).
If you’re working with a Greek deck, you’re going to want to build around Hades or Hecate. But cards like Medusa are a great fit into any Grimbald deck. Now that Hades has had a little bit of a rework, there’s now plenty of use for your Greek Commons to get some time to shine (can’t wait to see Griffin getting some Arena time).
For North American, Salem Witches are one to watch out for, especially in late-game plays but we really enjoy playing with the Rares in this Horde, here at Eerie base camp. They make for a lot of fun and can build up power quickly. Ozark Howler and Mercy Brown are personal favorites of this League Rules writer (plus, they both have great stories on the back!).
Zerrofel players are going to enjoy another week of being brutally mean to their opponents with Wretched Mortals playing nicely with Hauntings, creating the ultimate “Hate” deck. However, Yokai are still a force to be reckoned with so don’t go sleeping on Shinigami! And this is the perfect week to put Oni to work.
By now, you should be starting to get to grips with Wretched Mortals so we’re looking forward to seeing how your decks are looking. Countess Elizabeth Bathory is shaping up to be a player favorite with her leech ability. By late turns, you’ll be wishing she’d just killed you quickly and had done with it.
Mana Management:
Mana staples such as Fenrir, the Hat Man and some West African Rare cards are going to be very useful this week, in spite of them not getting an Alliance boost. Think carefully about how you want to cycle your cards to get the most out of these support cards!
As always, Hauntings Rares are wonderful weapons to keep tucked up your sleeve. Especially Hanako-san and Madam Koi Koi. Oh and popping Resurrection Mary into a Grimbald deck (NOT Zerrofel) is going to make you feel like an evil genius this week.
Best of luck and see you on the battlefield!
