Alliances:

Grimbald took a break last week (we’re assuming at least some of the North American cards were celebrating Thanksgiving - thankfully for souls to steal, blood to drink and unsuspecting travellers to devour) but they’re back with some bite. Cryptozoology is a wonderful deck for new players, while Greek is likely to still hold strong. We’re excited to see what you’ve been doing with North American decks now that they’ve been around for the last few weeks and we’re sure you’ve managed an upgrade or two since then!

If you’re working with a Greek deck, you’re going to want to build around Hades or Hecate. But cards like Medusa are a great fit into any Grimbald deck. With Cryptids, we love seeing Champ getting some love as he fits neatly into any Truce deck (decks containing cards from multiple Alliances). And let’s face it, who doesn’t love Mothman. For North American, Salem Witches are one to watch out for, especially in late-game plays but we really enjoy playing with the Rares in this Horde, here at Eerie base camp. They make for a lot of fun and can build up power quickly.

When it comes to Synnig, we’ve championed Celts as a brilliant new player deck and even the more seasoned players amongst our team still love to play them too. Nordic decks pack a powerful punch but you’re going to have to be very careful when it comes to Mana this week so be wary! A Valkyries-based deck makes for an excellent time though so we recommend giving that a shot on the battlefield. With Urban Legends, there are plenty of cards in there that you can easily slip into both a mono-Synnig OR a Truce deck, leaving your options open. We are currently enjoying playing with Fiji Mermaid and Nale Ba.

Mana Management:

Like last week, essential cards like Fenrir and Jörmungandr are going to be brutal in both mono-Nordic decks and, for Fenrir at least, across the board. Don’t sleep on cards like the Hatman, which will steal Mana from your opponent (while also benefiting from the Synnig Alliance boost).

When it comes to Grimbald, Cryptids are relatively low Mana and there are useful cards there to knock off a point or two when it comes to your Mana cost. Greeks may prove rather pricey at times and with North American, you may want to make use of skipping a few early turns to start building up Mana AND logging a few turn losses to utilise those comeback cards that rely on you losing a turn or two. Just keep an eye on that 30 Mana cap!

Best of luck and see you on the battlefield!
