TIPS

Alliances:

Rivin are back and we’re hoping to see exciting opportunities for creative deck-building and more balanced battles now that you’ve gotten your heads around Germanic cards. West African cards aim for big late-game plays while Slavic is also one where you can creep up on your opponent so make sure you’re planning for the future with these cards. As always, we’ll heap some praise on Bauk, which is a wonderfully handy Rare to add to your Rivin decks. We adore that shadowy nightmare.

For Germanic, we’ve seen a lot of Krampus love, as well as Lorelei and Tatzelwurm. Oh and Black Forest is a brutal world card that’ll really give your opponent a rotten time in early rounds.

With Grimbald, we’ve seen a lot of adoration for Greeks. These decks are best built around either Hades or Hecate (or both, if you’re nasty) so might require some strategising. We love Medusa as a handy card that fits into any deck though so you can always slip her into a Rivin deck if you’re wanting the best of both worlds. For new players, Cryptozoology is an incredibly fun starter deck and we are so fond of many of the monsters in there, especially now that Bigfoot and Mothman have some extra stomping power. And that +20 Alliance boost is going to help them for sure this week. And we’re likely already quaking in our boots at the prospect of an 18 Mana per turn week. While this might make some card combinations tricky to play (especially with Black Forest in the mix), North America will benefit from a few early game losses to strengthen cards for later.

Mana Management:

When it comes to Grimbald, Cryptids are relatively low Mana and there are useful cards there to knock off a point or two when it comes to your Mana cost. Greeks may prove rather pricey at times and with North American, you may want to make use of skipping a few early turns to start building up Mana AND logging a few turn losses to utilise those comeback cards that rely on you losing a turn or two. Just keep an eye on that 40 Mana cap!

Best of luck and see you on the battlefield!
